Excessive exposure to the sun is harmful to your health because, not only does it cause premature aging (wrinkles), prolonged exposure may eventually lead to skin cancer (melanoma). Are tanning beds safer alternatives to sunbathing? No. Tanning beds may even be more harmful than actual sunbathing. You are still exposed to UV rays but on a closer proximity and usually, for longer periods of time. What is the difference between skin emollients and moisturizers? Briefly, emollients soften the skin, whereas moisturizes rehydrates or adds moisture to the skin.
