FAQQ: I take my child to our family doctor and not a pediatrician, is that ok? A: Yes. As long as your child visits a licensed healthcare provider regularly it is fine. Q: We haven’t chosen a doctor yet. What are our options? A: You can take your child to a pediatrician, a family doctor, or a pediatric nurse practitioner. If your child has special needs though it is suggested that you have a developmental pediatrician check your child regularly. Q: My baby didn’t undergo newborn screening. Can I still request for that? A: No. newborn screening can only be done until about two weeks after the baby is born. If you want to test for specific diseases or disorders included in the newborn screening it can be done but it is no longer called newborn screening though.
